Judith Colell was born in Barcelona in 1968. PhD in Communication and BA in Art History. He pursued a graduate degree in film at NYU.
He has directed the feature films “El domini dels sentits (Collective), “Women” (2001) awarded at the Sitges Film Festival, Lorca i Vitoria among others, ’53 days of winter’ (2007) presented at the Festival of Sant Sebastià Cinema, best actress at the Toulouse Festival and nominated for 10 Barcelona awards, “Elisa K” (2010), which won the Special Jury Prize at Sant Sebastià Film Festival, Special Jury Mention in Nantes, National Culture Award of the Generalitat de Catalunya, nominated for 5 Gaudí awards and the Goya for the best adapted screenplay among other awards and “15 hours” awarded at the Festival of Malaga and Marseille. “Positives” (2008), “Fragments” (2003), “Radiaciones” (2012) and “The Last Dance of Carmen Amaya” (2014) are the films he has directed for television.
Founding member of CIMA (Women filmmakers). She was vice-president of the Academy of Arts and Sciences of Spain from 2011-2015. She is currently the President of the Catalan Cinema Academy.
She is Vice Dean of Business in Blanquerna, Ramon Llull University of Barcelona.
