Sandra Reina is director and assistant director in Barcelona. She began her career developing projects for production companies such as Inicia Films, La Lupa and About a Bicycle, and has been the first assistant director on feature films such as ‘Unicornis’, by Àlex Lora, and ‘The permanent image’, by Laura Ferrés, which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival. He has also been an assistant director on six seasons of the series ‘Oh My Goig’, the documentary series ‘Dahaleez’ for Al Jazeera and has worked on several short films and commercials.
In 2017 she was selected for the Rotterdam Lab, and in 2019 she participated in the VIII Screenwriting Laboratory of the SGAE. In 2019, Sandra made her directorial debut together with Fran Menchón with the short fiction film ‘Trivial’, starring Macarena Gómez. The remarkable journey of the film has its selection in more than 40 festivals and a dozen prizes.
Her latest short film, ‘El bus’, won the prize for the best project in the Acció Curts call, by Visual Women, and had its world premiere at the SXSW Festival this 2023.
The short film, still on the festival circuit, is candidate for the Gaudí Awards and has been selected in prestigious festivals qualifying for the Oscars, including the Malaga Film Festival, where it obtained the Special Jury Mention, L’Ull Nu and El Meteorito, where it won awards for Best Short Film, at Krakow Film Festival or the Huesca Film Festival.
He is currently developing his first feature length fiction film, produced by Inicia Films.
