SYNOPSIS

Aurore Dupin fled Nohant for Paris to escape her violent husband and break free from the bourgeois shackles of her upbringing. In the bustling capital of the early 19th century, Aurore led a Bohemian life and published her very first novel, using a pseudonym; and so “George Sand” was born. She went on to become the first female writer ever to make a living from her books, inflaming her readers’ passions and sealing a string of literary successes. A feminist before her time, wearing men’s clothing and smoking a pipe in cabarets, she had a plethora of lovers, Alfred de Musset, Frédéric Chopin and the great actress Marie Dorval among the most famous. Her novels paint a vast fresco of her time, but her true masterpiece… is her life!
