SYNOPSIS

“Lebanon Without Peace” is a journey through the land of the cedars, tracing the questions that define its history and identity: why Hezbollah, and what will Lebanon become in the future? From the bombings of Beirut and the refugee crisis to the destruction of UNESCO heritage sites, from the mass graves in Tyre to the celebrations for Hezbollah leader Nasrallah and his fighters, the report explores Lebanon’s diverse communities—Shiites, Christians, Druze—to narrate the country’s many faces, its traumas, and its inner conflicts.
Over 1.2 million displaced, 4,047 dead, 16,638 injured, 2,200 hectares of scorched land, and between 2 to 4 million tons of rubble to be cleared. Lebanon faces the daunting challenges of reconstruction and coexistence.
